Hunting and Fishing Club Newsletter - February 2009

To all 2008-2009 Members:

We have completed a very safe and satisfactory 43rd year. The dove and duck hunting was average or above. The goose season was the best for several years with well over 1000 birds taken. One Saturday 40 was the count and 25 or more several times. The afternoons were real good the last of the season. Two brothers report they got nearly 75. One young hunter who joined the free 1/2 day and hunted at the last of the season and got 3 geese on his 1st three times hunting. One hunter who found out he had to put his dog down came out to get him one last retrieve late in the day and got four geese and the dog got two water retrieves and two land retrieves. We really felt good for them. The only complaints we got about hunting was from people who did not go much or quit early in the year.

It is time to renew for 09-10. We offer the $100.00 discount if paid in full by April 1st. We are also offering one day of fishing on Boyd Lake on our pontoon boat for each referral that joins. This includes the member’s family and their new member.

If you are leaving a camper or trailer after March 1st, we must have your name and phone number on the trailer or give it to us with license plate number.

If you can come to the work day Saturday, February 1st, bring a cordless drill and hip boots if you have them.

We have ordered Channel catfish for the lake and we expect delivery around March 15th.

We will send a summer recreation letter and schedule next month.

Please contact us any time if you have any questions at 970-221-1362.

Sincerely,

Charles Whipple, Mgr.
