Hunting and Fishing Club Rules and Bylaws

  1. Absolutely no drinking of any type of alcoholic beverages before or during hunting.
  2. Only approved guests are allowed and only one member of your immediate family (wife or children under 21) per day unless approved.
  3. No small game hunting on Highland Acres lease    ie.  Rabbits, Pheasants, etc
  4. All hunters must stay on Highland Acres lease except to follow a crippled bird
  5. All hunters will remain in blinds as much as possible and not disturb other hunters
  6. When caught out in the open and others are calling geese, you are to lay down flat on the ground and wait until calling has ceased and geese are gone
  7. Do not shoot at geese out of range or geese decoying into other hunters
  8. Everyone must furnish their own wax and freezer bags or pay for them when using club materials at the rate of $2.00 per goose
  9. Geese will be dressed at the rate of $8.00 per goose (must be paid when leaving the goose for dressing)
  10. Any hunter who has an approved guest must leave money in the guest box BEFORE hunting
  11. The following rules apply to ownership of geese shot
    • Hunters in the same blind are expected to divide geese fairly by deciding who shot the goose
    • If a wounded goose goes down into or close to another blind it still belongs to the blind that first shot it if it is wounded enough that it cannot get away.
    • An honestly disputed goose should go to the member that has had the least geese for the year
  12. Each member is expected to comply with all Colorado and Federal License Laws
    • Steel shot only in our area
    • No shooting after sunset or one half hour (1/2 hour) before sunrise
  13. All litter must be removed from blinds and grounds daily (Pack it in / Pack it out)
  14. Hunters may not reserve the same blind two (2) days in a row.  This will prevent a monopoly on certain areas.
  15. Reservations for the following day may only be made by calling 970-221-1362
    • Between the hours of 06:00 pm and 06:30 pm
    • If you cannot call in that half hour period and have to call later, do not call after 08:00 pm.
    • Reservations will NOT be accepted even one (1) minute before 06:00 pm by our clocks
    • We only guarantee to be available during the half (1/2) hour period (06:00 pm to 06:30 pm)
  16. We are still experimenting with the ten (10) foot rule and it will be used until further notice.
  17. Highland Acres officers reserve the right to return membership dues or decline future membership to those not following these rules and / or to those shooting out of range and not letting the geese work. This option will only be exercised after careful consideration.
